WILDGRASS BANDUNG

Woah I have been writing so many of my Bandung stories that it's almost finished! You can check out the previous posts on the archive and the travel page I am building soon. Anyway, this restaurant was our last stop to have lunch before heading back to Jakarta and recommended by so many of you on Snapchat (if I am not mistaken the top 2 was this and 180 Coffee and Music): WILDGRASS!

Wildgrass is a pretty and posh looking restaurant (totally my kind of place) located in Ciumbuleuit and situated very near to the earlier resident: Miss Bee Providore. The restaurant is owned and managed by Altima Group which also heads famous restaurants like Nanny's Pavillon and Porto (Porto is really delicious I've tried their Gading Serpong branch before and loving it). Appearance wise, it might be the most urban-modern looking restaurant in Bandung to date (Miss Bee, Saka and Vermont are among my favorite design too) and it's a great improvement as I have always loved Bandung F&B scene, not to mention, I love how it's strategically located around this green space and it's really giving me that fresh and earthy vibe, it's almost like a huge home with a park.
Semi-outdoor and outdoor area tour...
The overall interior is industrial-minimalist for sure, I was super fond of mixture of raw earthy elements such as bricks, wood and concrete that combined with the metallic elements, and together they created this vintage moody kind of space. The restaurant has two stories in it with more seats on the second floor and semi-outdoor area for smokers. Wildgrass does not install any air-conditioning in the restaurant and they fully depend on Bandung's chill breeze, and luckily since it rained quite often on my visit, it was indeed a little cool.

Intentional polaroid-like shots hung on the wire-wall

For the food here, they concentrate on serving mainly Western cuisine with some fusion stuff such as Spaghetti Tom Yum and Chicken Wings Terasi. Price range for food starts from IDR 35k-100k and drinks from IDR 15k.

Lembang Sangria - IDR 59k
Apparently, the Sangria was meant to be shared since it came in quite large serving. The Sangria consist of cinnamon tea mixed with cranberry juice, orange juice, soda and fruit slices.
Gorgeous Fries - IDR 35k
It's gorgeous because it's fries and it's a pretty safe light bite. Deep fried shoestring fries with Cajun pepper dressing and lime.
Chicken Wings with Terasi - IDR 45k
This one was one of my favorite menus on the lunch that day for its delicious flavor, the chicken wing was quite common (deep fried), but it's the Terasi sauce dressing that's lifting the flavor, making them tasty and gave a bit of aroma to them.
Tom Yum Pasta - IDR 69k
I was a bit disappointed because the presentation was so much different than the one I saw on their menu (it was so perfectly photographed), I expected a bit difference but not that significant. Anyway, the flavor really saved this pasta as it's quite tasty and salty with bold Tom Yum flavor with chunks of chicken slices and shrimp.
Truffle Pasta - IDR 70k
On the other hand, the truffle pasta actually looked way better than the picture on the menu with more condiments inside that what I initially expected, unfortunately, I couldn't spot the strong truffle aroma and it was too creamy for my liking.
Deconstructed Banoffee Pie - IDR 40k
Dreamland - IDR 37k
It was my friend's order and I did not try it, anyway it came in such pretty presentation tho.
Based on my visit, Wildgrass was fabulous when it comes to their space and atmosphere, while the food was more to the decent category but nowhere near bad. I would be more than happy to recommend you guys to go here and chill with friends, on the day of my visit, the restaurant was super packed (and I heard it has always been like this since the first day), but we didn't really experience such troubling customer service matter nor the food took long to be served.

LET'S GO GELATO: BEST GELATO IN BANDUNG

This was a rather accidental finding, so whoever ran the socmed account of Let's Go Gelato commented on my 180 Coffee and Music Instagram post, and when me and my friend from Yummy Traveler peek the account, we noticed that their gelato looks promising. Ice cream is not the first thing that I look for in Bandung, but theirs were promising enough to make us gave it a try.
Let's Go Gelato is a small gelato and sorbet shop located at Jalan Bengawan No. 29 and located precisely beside Papyrus photography service. The first story is where they showcase the 23 of their pretty, colorful & tempting looking gelato and sorbet selections, FYI they even have this Singapore Chili Crab flavor that I was dying to try but was not available that day. Ordering your ice cream here was quite common and simple, you choose what size and how many scoops you want, proceed to payment and they will give you the receipt.

The retail price for 2 scoops of regular flavors is IDR 25k and 4 scoops for IDR 45k. One scoop of premium gelato costs IDR 20k

While the first floor is where you purchase your gelato, the second floor is where customers are more than welcome to sit down, relax and enjoy their gelato in this space inside the container space. There wasn't a big seating capacity space (probably for 15 people only).
Raspberry + Coffee Baileys = IDR 30k // wasn't my order so I couldn't comment.
Coffee Baileys + Thai Tea = IDR 30k
Before deciding, you're more than welcome to sample all the ice cream flavors if you want to, at the end, my pick went for this beautiful combination of coffee baileys and thai tea! I found the texture of their gelato to be really good with the right amount of thickness, creamy texture and it did not melt quick. The coffee and baileys flavor were rich and intense but tasty and even though both my picks were more to the creamier side, but matching it with the thai tea gelato was such a good idea as it balanced everything and refreshed my palate with different flavor. Their thai tea gelato might be one of the best I've tried.
I accidentally skipped on tasting their Kratingdaeng and Apple Strudel gelato. Their Apple Strudel gelato is everything! It's just so so good I can't even emphasize.
Generally, I found their gelato really good, the only thing that I really did not like about them is the promotional photo they're displaying on their outlet and I hope they would change it real soon, it's seriously weakening their charming gelato. If you're a sweet tooth looking for great gelato in Bandung, look no further than Let's Go Gelato!

TWO HANDS FULL AT 107 GARAGE ROOM - BANDUNG

Not too long ago, one of my favorite Bandung coffee shops chain, Two Hands Full, opened their a new branch of their Two Hands Full brand at Ciumbuleuit following their highly successful branch in Jalan Sukajadi, they call this outlet Two Hands Full Garage for it is located at the 107 Garage Room, a cross brand social space that host some of the coolest local food & fashion establishments under one roof.
THF Garage is way smaller than their Sukajadi outlet, but it's totally brighter with strong minimalist design character, and being a sucker for those, overall I might like the look of this outlet better than their Sukajadi outlet which is always overly packed, luckily on my last visit to Bandung, it rains almost all the time so the weather was a bit cool and I enjoyed chilling at the communal semi-outdoor area where everyone can sit around the wood stairs almost like a mini park.

I might never reviewed their previous outlet on the blog, but if you've been following me on Instagram or Snapchat, I have always raved about how good their coffee and brunch here, so can I just say that generally the coffees that you're seeing here are really good with good amount of body character, aromatic and creamy. Price range for their coffee here is from IDR 30k, but one thing that I NEVER SKIP when coming to THF is definitely their chai latte. THEY SERIOUSLY MAKE THE BEST CHAI LATTE EVER!
Hot cappuccino
BOMB! Iced Chai Latte with Soymilk - IDR 26k. What I love the most about their chai latte is probably because it's not overly milky (I am talking about the non-soy version of it), it's sweet, creamy and I found that the amount of herb is good enough (some might like it stronger), and the soy they're using just elevated the flavor and made it way more delicious to my liking! SO YES TO THA SOY!!!
Nutella Toast
Nothing out of the world special, toast and Nutella should always be safe, but I like how they cook the brioche bread to have this semi-crispy texture and moist in the same time.
Smoothie Bowl
I did not try this as it's my friend's order, but she said it's quite delicious.
Family photo - Bandung Tanpa Judul <3 (only chosen people understand). We had two pics and this one was the "fierce" version (but since we all looked so bloody Chinese we didn't quite get that fierceness NOT RACIST OK!)
Thank you for reading <3
