PADDOCK BAKERY GOLDCOAST - AUSTRALIA

As a virgin to Goldcoast, I was quite surprised to find that Goldcoast is infact a very laid back town. People here are very chill and less busy comparing to the more city Sydney. When you have this picture about lazy beach life, Goldcoast it is.

The Goldcoast F&B scene might not be as hyped as Sydney or Melbourne, but in some ways I still think of Goldcoast as a good foodie destination based on the gems I visited here, well technically The whole Australia is the perfect foodie destination. One of my most favorite (if not my personal favo) dining places that I went to has got to be this cafe, boulangerie and pattiserie called Paddock Bakery on the Miami area.
I would suggest taking cab (taxi) as Paddock Bakery is located at the suburb area. Its actually a house transformed and renovated to a cafe, boulangerie and patisserie completed with cozy al-fresco area. Its 7:30 AM in the morning and it was quite packed with people enjoying their time and pretty breakfast, and those who were waiting in line for their orders. My friend, Kate, told me that Paddock Bakery has been sort of like the hot breakfast destination ever since it appeared on the scene 2 years ago, well, based on my visit, I certainly understand why.
THE PLACE IS GORGEOUS! I have always loved this kind of cafe, you know those days when you watch some movies and they have this scene where they have their breakfast outdoor and you go shit I have to eat there and there I was at my ideal breakfast place and actually dined there. I come from Indonesia and in no way we have that kind of thing going on here because then nobody will sit outside! Jakarta is super humid my friend, and sometimes AC is like our lifes biggest glory.

The design was so simple and I was so glad that they actually cooperate with the nature to create the earthy ambiance. Youre going to spot trees and a lot of greens here, pots of flowers and wild plants, semi-chaotic but gorgeous. The boulangerie and patisserie was located inside, completed with open kitchen for you to experience the production process with your eyes.
Visual tour then food.
When in Australia, drink as much coffee as you can. I take my coffee in form of soycaps every single freaking day! They use La Marzocca espresso machine here and my soycap was just a perfect kick-start that morning.
The food here was mostly Australian-Western meals starting from the all day breakfast and lunch, salads, toasted sandwich, frozen bowls, coffee and chocolate. Price range for food is about AUD 13.5 and coffee AUD 4.
Pink Pitaya Bowl (AUD 13)
Another thing that I seriously love about Australian breakfast: SMOOTHIE BOWLS! I dont normally crave for something savory for breakfast (big breakfast is an exception but only that), so I always opt for either smoothie bowls or chia parfaits here, while in Jakarta. I almost NEVER have breakfast. I am an afternoon person and wake up super late. Oh what a beauty of holiday: you get to wake up early and know youre on the other side of the world.
Their pink pitaya bowl consist of generous colorful toppings such as house wood fired granola, fig (fig is everywhere here), blueberries, strawberries & pistachio crumble. I like how they actually the pitaya in a paper bowl making it perfect on the go, it was a refreshing meal, fresh and a right one.
Dippy Eggs (AUD 12,5)
Beautiful presentation I must say! The Dippy Eggs consist of two soft boiled free range eggs with buttered sourdough soldiers, bacon bits, parsley and organic labda. It was a unique way to have your eggs and it was actually pretty yummy too, the egg was just so fresh.
So many reasons to love Paddock Bakery: good food, friendly service, awesome venue, but most importantly that homey feeling among my stay here. While acknowledging that youre on the other side of the world, sometimes the thing that you want the most about travelling is also to feel like home. Paddock Bakery is seriously recommended. A perfect place to grab your breakfast in Queensland, do note that they close at 2 PM daily.
