TOBY'S ESTATE INDONESIA - PIK AVENUE, JAKARTA [FIRST EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW]

For those who have heard of the rumor, rest assure as it's CONFIRMED! The highly anticipated Toby's Estate is finally opening its first Indonesia outlet in PIK Avenue, and of course yours truly got the first access and exclusive preview of the outlet, overall it's still pretty raw and construction is still going and because I don't want to spoil all the excitement I am going to show you some pictures that I took when they invited me to come and see the training process and will definitely make a full blog post in the future.
Toby's Estate Indonesia is located at the outdoor area of PIK Avenue's North Lobby and for a coffee shop standard, it's pretty spacious with mainly modern-industrial feel infused to the interior design, the kind people behind Toby's Estate Indonesia previously showed me the 3D render of the store and so far it has been looking pretty much the same as how I expected it to turn out.
Marco Bulk Coffee Machine or should I say the coffee jet machine!
As for the espresso machine, they occupy Spirit espresso machine, that's a $20.000 beast for goodness sake!
So excited for you guys to try their coffee, again can't tell you much but if you love super bodied coffee then you'll love this one!
Can't hardly wait to come to the opening later this weekend and enjoy the beautiful harmony of never-ending coffee shop hustle bustle, interaction between the people and smelling the lingering coffee scent surrounding the coffee shop.

If you guys are keen on coming to Toby's Estate, they will start operating on December 10th 2016 starting 4 PM, the grand opening reception will be earlier that day and for invited guests only. Maybe we can bump to one another that day so I'll see you guys (maybe)!

UPDATE - DECEMBER 10TH 2016
So today I attended the grand opening of Toby's Estate Indonesia and it was crazy busy and packed with so many media, blogger and influencer friends as well as some friends from the coffee biz and Australia. The rundown was basically typical: press conference, Q&A session, food tasting and the best thing: UNLIMITED FLOW OF COFFEE!
Do note that this won't be exactly a full review of Toby's Estate because I was busy hosting the guests and helping them with the crowd, but what I can really tell you is that even after the super packed day (like crazy packed), the coffee and food were amazing, and I was a bit skeptical about the consistency but it was more than what I expected. Truly proud of the team!

Aside from what you're looking, they also have espresso based coffee (piccolo, cappuccino, latte) and non-coffee drinks. Price range starts from IDR 30k-85k for coffee.
Expect to find all-day Australian-Western brunch meals here with price ranging from IDR 70k-200k, even though I didn't snap a lot of pictures as I was super busy, but I happened to sample all the food and they were so great, and by great I mean definitely above my standard, all that I really wish was for the charm not to fade! So what to order? Get their Pappardelle pasta with generous amount of meat, Buttermilk Chicken (photo below), Kale salad (omg the kale was so crunchy) and their French Toast as sweet closure!

DUA COFFEE CIPETE - JAKARTA

It has been a very hectic day for me and the rain has been pouring crazy hard since the morning and has not stopped even as I am typing this post. It was from Raisa's Snapchat that I found out about this very newly opened coffee shop (guess it's her brother's), and realizing I just finished my meeting at Citos and since it's not too far from Cipete, guess I am giving this one a try!

Dua is a small coffee shop located in Cipete Dalam No. 2 (align with Lycee Francais de Jakarta almost at the end of the alley-street) sharing the same venue with House of Relax. It's a petite coffee shop with capacity for 12-15 people, but here's the thing: sometimes when the perfect air-conditing meets the lingering smell of coffee + the pouring rain is just the best feeling in the world, and I am typing this post while listening to Raisa's track to get me a bit more inspired. Dua is small, but there's something incredibly homey about it, and not to mention, the barista was very friendly.
I didn't have much time so after checking out their Instagram, they featured the Affogato (IDR 40k) there so I gave it a try, plus a glass of iced cappuccino. I think their default serving consist of a single shot of espresso because it was light, but I like how it's not overly milky with soft finish, I might go back here and ask for a double espresso shot to experience the more bodi-ed flavor. FYI THEY CURRENTLY HAVE THE PAY AS YOU LIKE PROMOTION UNTIL SEPTEMBER 1ST!!!
Dua Affogato - IDR 40k
Affogato = espresso + one scoop of vanilla ice cream
They're using Amame Ice Cream Therapy for the affogato here. There are currently six flavors available here: thai tea, maple & cream, apple & cinnamon, strawberry cheesecake, matcha latte and milk chocolate.
I did not have anything to complain about the Affogato here, I was a bit skeptical because they gave me less amount of espresso than I normally encountered on other coffee shops, but when you actually mix the espresso with the ice cream, it was perfectly sweet with delicate amount of coffee. It was simple but delicious, dayum!
Sweet and creamy with good balance of everything.
Do you know what I love about Cipete? That area is the home of little good coffee shops like Tuku, Srsly, and I do have high hopes for Dua too! Welcome to the club and lots of luck :).

LUCKY CAT COFFEE & KITCHEN JAKARTA

So today is a pretty hectic day for me, I have been all up from 8 AM to do to my works and finish all the crazy deadlines that has been haunting me ever since I was back from Bali, but in the middle of my activity, I had a few hours off for break before attending another restaurant opening, and being around Kuningan area, I took advantage to actually come and check out this newly opened coffee shop that I lately see pretty often on my Instagram "explore" tab: LUCKY CAT COFFEE & KITCHEN.

I looked at their Instagram before actually coming, and for some reasons I had this inkling that this coffee shop must have something to do or connected to Sajiva in Lippo Karawaci, mostly from the homey and minimalist design and the round marble tables that are just so Sajiva-ish, and it is indeed the sister joint of Sajiva (confirmed this to the cashier). I fell hard for the interior design, it literally feels like you're having your coffee and dining at someone's gorgeous home, the homey vibe of this coffee shop is too much not to soak it in your heart, and even though it was pretty packed on my visit (and how I normally like when coffee shops are a little more quiet), the energy was on, not to mention the cold air-conditing and the music they're playing.
Lucky Cat Coffee & Kitchen is located in the Pasar Festival and standing around the very busy area which I consider strategic, now I am about to tell you what I found amusing from this coffee shop: IT FREAKING OPENS 24/7!!! So you can totally get your caffeine fix anytime!
Besides serving coffee, they also have main courses and pastas to pair. Sajiva came with their idea to pair the coffee with Dim Sum (FYI the owner of both coffee shops are the Dim Sum Inc. group) and this time Lucky Cat comes with the idea of pairing the coffee with Western inspired cuisine such as Pan Seared Salmon, Roasted Chicken and more. I wasn't feeling any heavy meals, so I went with the more casual goodness: seafood pasta. Price range for coffee here is around IDR 30k and food (main courses) starts around IDR 50k-IDR 80k (IDR 30k for cakes).
Hot and Iced Cappuccino (IDR 40k)
For the coffee, I went with their hot and iced cappuccino (the iced cappuccino is not in frame because that bitch is basic looking). The hot cap was actually not bad at all, but it's not the best I've had either, but it did had this decent strength and flavor balance. I hate it when people magically mistaken my order for cappuccino to latte, you can definitely tell when the coffee is way too milky, and luckily they did not fuck up my order so that's all that I care.

There are two kinds of blends for the coffee and I was glad that they asked me first hand whether I wanted the mild or stronger blend. This is the kind of gesture that I appreciated.
Seafood Pasta - IDR 68k
The pasta took a while to be served on my table (around 20 minutes of waiting and they did promise 10 minutes FYI). The pasta was just slightly overcooked, but the seasoning from the sauce was quiet nice, there were 4 fresh chunks of prawns and a few slices of squid inside. Not bad.
Overall, the only thing that I dislike about the coffee shop is the name (Sajiva is cool, Lucky Cat is not really FOR ME, OK FOR ME), other than that everything was just pretty decent: coffee was good (at least better than I expected), the seafood pasta that I ordered was not a disappointment and space wise, one of the best looking ones in Jakarta. Best of luck Lucky Cat! err...
